The Surfing Destination! (Arugam Bay Sri Lanka)
Arugam Bay Sri Lanka attracts surfing enthusiasts worldwide, particularly during the surfing season from April to October. Many prefer to stay in the area for the duration. The advanced Arugam Bay Point, located at the bay’s tip, is a top spot for experienced surfers. Depending on the swell and oceanic conditions, waves there can reach up to ten metres in height. The beach in the bay area features cosy, small hotels. Additionally, a section of the beach is home to a lively fishing boat community, which is the primary source of income for the coastal region. Nevertheless, this does not disrupt the surfers.
It is essential to note that the peak season in Arugam Bay spans from June to August, during which the waves are globally renowned. Additionally, parties are held at night during this season. However, outside this period, the weather is still fantastic, but there are no waves or parties. The season you choose to visit is entirely up to you. Furthermore, restaurants and shops operate from February to October.
Climb up Elephant Rock

At the end of this bay, you’ll come across Elephant Rock, which is a great spot to get a panoramic view of the entire area. The road leading to the rock may not be very clear, but it’ll only take you 20 minutes to get there.
